THE LAB.YRINTH SPACE

DATE

Sara Santervás, an artist and dancer born in Andalusia (Spain), presented a solo performance at THE LAB.YRINTH. In an intense connection with the space, Sara Santervás creates a safe haven to explore a complex and extensive range of emotions.

Throughout the performance, Sara easily connects with the audience, who end up joining in a movement of learning self-love and, consequently, founding a new, unique community of sharing and liberation.

Sara Santervás (Úbeda, 1994).

She embodies and materialises the performing arts.

Born in Andalusia, she has a degree in Biomedicine from the University of Seville and a master's degree in Genetics from the University of Granada. She discovered dance through Spanish and Contemporary Dance and formalised her training in the Oficina Zero programme in Portugal, under the direction of Mafalda Deville.

She is currently a co-creator and performer in new productions by Horácio Macuácua, which premiered in Mozambique at the KINANI dance biennial, and Hélder Seabra for Companhia Instável, a work shown internationally in Belgium and Portugal. She created her first solo works, “Krakatoa” and “The View From Halfway Down”, in which she explores comedy as a means of addressing tragedy, the latter marked by extensive research into improvisational composition. Over the years as an artist based in Porto, she has worked as a performer for international choreographers such as Guillermo Weickert, Tommy Luther, Joan Jonas, Davis Freeman, Cristina Mendanha, Elisabeth Lambeck and Mafalda Deville.

She currently resides in Porto, where she shares her love of dance in various schools and academies, and develops and presents her artistic work in collaboration with other artists in the country (Sara Bernardo, Mercedes Quijada, Lea Siebrecht) and important institutions in northern Portugal (Companhia Instável, Arte Total, GNRation, Fundação Serralves, Oficina Zero).
